New Inverse Method for Determining Uniaxial Flow Properties by Spherical Indentation Test

Abstract The spherical indentation test has been successfully applied to inversely derive the tensile properties of small regions in a non-destructive way. Current inverse methods mainly rely on extensive iterative calculations, which yield considerable computational costs. In this paper, database method is proposed determine flow from single force-depth curves avoid simulations. Firstly, that contain numerous established by inputting varied Ludwic material parameters into finite elements model. Secondly, for given experimental curve, mean square error (MSE) designated evaluate deviation between curve and each database. Finally, true stresses at series plastic strain can be acquired analyzing these deviations. To validate new method, three different steels, i.e. A508, 2.25Cr1Mo 316L are selected. Both simulated used as inputs acquire properties. result indicates approach provides impressive accuracy when used, but less accurate used. This much higher efficiency compared with traditional therefore more adaptive engineering application.
